Improving Access to Psychological Therapies – Pakistan (IAPT-PK) is a flagship initiative of the Pakistan Institute of Living & Learning (PILL), aimed at expanding access to mental health services in three demonstration districts of Sindh: Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, and Sukkur. As part of the project’s implementation, Mr. Ameer Bux conducted training sessions on Safeguarding, Good Clinical Practices, and Mental Health First Aid for the PILL staff in Shaheed Benazirabad. In addition, a constructive meeting was held with Rehan Ahmed Chandio, Chairman of the District Council Qambar Shahdadkot, alongside Dr. Azam Tahir and PILL researchers, to strengthen community
engagement. A major milestone was the signing of a tripartite agreement between the Department of Health, Government of Sindh, PILL, and PPHI Sindh to operationalise the initial phase of IAPT-PK across the three districts. Looking ahead, the YCMAP Project will be integrated into routine care through the globally recognized IAPT model. If demonstrated to be cost-effective, IAPT-PK holds the potential to be scaled across Sindh—home to over 50 million people— and is already generating interest from other provinces, including
Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
