Moving on ABC

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide. In Pakistan, 83,000 cases of breast cancer are reported each year, and 1 in 9 women is at risk of being diagnosed during their lifetime. While more women are surviving breast cancer today, many continue to struggle with depression and anxiety after treatment.
The Moving on ABC project [NIHR205561] offers personalised support to breast cancer survivors who also experience depression. It begins with self-help resources and, if needed, moves to more intensive medication.

This programme will:

  • Reach over 13,000 women across Pakistan
  • Raise awareness using social media and local networks
  • Train health professionals to provide cancer-specific mental health support
  • Help improve national policies and build a local breast cancer registry in Sindh

The goal is to make mental health care a routine part of cancer recovery and improve the lives of survivors and their families.
